Are there ever any back charges for therapists or clients?

We have a strict no backcharges policy for clients and therapists. Since clients only pay their co-insurance for sessions, Thrizer takes on the responsibility to wait for reimbursements. If a claim is denied or if we receive a lower reimbursement amount than expected, we will not back charge clients for prior sessions. We will simply inform them on the updated reimbursement amount for future sessions.

Can I use Thrizer for clients who do not have out-of-network benefits?

Absolutely! Thrizer accommodates clients who do not have OON benefits and those who do not wish to use theirs. You simply set their billing type to "Standard Pay". For these clients, no claims are submitted to their insurance when you charge them for a session.

As a therapist, do I need to switch over to Thrizer completely?

Absolutely not! Feel free to use Thrizer for one client or all clients. There are no minimum client requirements or other arbitrary limitations.

How does Thrizer Work?

For individuals, Thrizer works by acting as a payment method that links with your health insurance to verify how much your insurance will cover for out-of-network therapy. With Thrizer, you only pay your responsibility for your sessions while we wait cover the rest of the fee and wait for reimbursement on your behalf.

For therapists, Thrizer works like any other payment application. We offer a secure and simple way to charge your clients for appointments.

What health insurance does Thrizer work with?

Thrizer works with virtually any health insurance in the United States. If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, we can help.

What do I need to do to onboard to Thrizer?

For individuals, setting up your Thrizer account entails adding a payment method, linking your health insurance, and connecting with your provider on the platform. What are Thrizer's privacy and security measures?

What is Thrizer?

Thrizer is a payment app for therapy-goers and mental healthcare professionals that makes out-of-network therapy more accessible.

Individuals can use Thrizer to pay what they owe for out-of-network therapy instead of paying their provider's full fee and waiting for insurance reimbursement.

Therapists can use Thrizer to be more accessible (while still earning their full rates) and modernize their payment stack.

How do I charge clients for appointments?

You can charge clients for appointments from the Payments tab in your account by clicking the Add Charge button. You will be able to select the client, their payment method, and enter any appointment information needed for the claim submission.

How do I receive payments from clients?

When clients set up their Thrizer account, they connect their preferred payment method. Any time you charge a client, the client's card is charged and payment is stored in your Thrizer balance. Payouts occur every Friday and will include all payments you've received in the past week.

How often can I set my payouts?

At this time, we only offer rolling bi-weekly payouts (twice per week). In other words, payouts are initiated on a weekly basis with the payment cycle "rolling" or continuing indefinitely, until you stop making payments in Thrizer.

Payouts occur every Tuesday and Friday and will include all charges you've made in the past payout period:

If a charge is made Tuesday 12 AM EST through Thursday 11:59 PM EST the payout will be issued on Friday, and the deposit will settle between Friday and Monday‍
For charges made Friday 12 AM EST through Monday 11:59 PM EST the payout will be issued on Tuesday, and the deposit will settle between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Your Thrizer Balance shows the amount of funds that are pending for payout on the next payout date. You can always see the associated payout date with any transaction by looking at its extended details to confirm exactly when it is expected to reach your bank account.

Can I charge clients for no-shows or late cancellations on Thrizer?

Yes! When adding a charge for your client, you have the option to charge for no-shows or any other miscellaneous charge. No claims are generated or submitted with either of those charge types.

What happens if my client's card gets declined?

Your client's card can be declined for a variety of reasons, including insufficient funds, overdue balance, expired or canceled cards, or fraud protection from the issuing bank. In any of these cases, the charge will be declined in real-time and you will be notified of the decline reason. You will need to connect directly with the client to remedy this.

What if I need to refund a client?

You can refund your clients directly from your Thrizer account, by going to your transaction list and clicking the refund button. The client will see the refund within 5-10 days on their original payment method, and you will see the amount deducted from your next payout.

Can clients use HSA or FSA cards?

They absolutely can! Connecting HSA and FSA cards are the same process as connecting any other card to Thrizer.

Can clients connect multiple payment methods to Thrizer?

Yes! Clients can connect as many payment methods as they would like to their Thrizer account. This can help in situations where clients manage their finances across multiple cards, or would like to use prepaid cards.

What if I have a deductible?

There is no fee for using Thrizer if you are working towards your deductible.

If you have a deductible, all payments for sessions will be used to meet the deductible. You will pay your provider's full fee and the payments will be applied to the deductible automatically.

Once you meet your deductible, you will automatically only be charged what your owe (your co-pay) for appointments, while Thrizer covers the rest and waits for reimbursement for you. The above fees will apply.

How do you handle claim delays and denials?

Claim delays may happen for a variety of reasons, such as an insurance requesting license verification. Claim denials are rare, but may happen on occasion.

In either case, our team provides end-to-end support so that the reason behind the delay or denial is clear and the resolution is clearer. Our team works hard to resolve any pending issues immediately and expedite claims accordingly.

How can I submit my superbills from before Thrizer?

You can email those superbills to Thrizer Support and we'd be happy to submit those for your client, and manage them like any other claim, as a courtesy!

What if I have a deductible?

What is the cost of using Thrizer?

For individuals, Thrizer is a flat 5% fee (of the provider's rate) for those who use Thrizer Pay to pay what you owe at the time of the appointment instead of the provider's full fee. This fee is added on to your co-pay at the time of payment. If your prefer to pay in full and wait for reimbursements, there is a 1% transfer fee incurred at the time of reimbursement, but no additional upfront costs.

For providers, the cost is a flat 3% payment processing fee for your transactions (charges) through Thrizer

Are there any monthly fees?

There are no monthly fees to use Thrizer.

What about merchant fees, claim fees, or usage fees?

Nope! There are no fees outside of the transaction fees described above.
