At Thrizer, "co-pay" means your estimated share of an out-of-network therapy session cost.
It is not the fixed copay listed on an insurance card for in-network visits.
Because this is out-of-network care, there is no set copay amount. Your estimated share depends on how your insurance is expected to process the claim based on your plan details at the time of the session.
What this number represents
Your co-pay is the portion of the session that insurance is not expected to cover, plus Thrizer’s fee for handling payment and insurance submission.
Instead of paying your clinician’s full session fee upfront and waiting for reimbursement, Thrizer lets you pay only your estimated co-pay at the time of the visit.
How the estimate is calculated
Thrizer uses three inputs:
- Provider fee – what your clinician charges for the session
- Expected insurance reimbursement – what your plan is expected to cover
- Thrizer fee – a percentage fee for managing payment and claims
Co-pay = Provider fee − Expected insurance reimbursement + Thrizer fee
Example
- Provider fee: $200
- Expected insurance reimbursement: $175
Your estimated share of the session is $25.
Thrizer’s fee is $10 (5% of the $200 session fee).
Total co-pay charged at the time of the session: $35
