Thrizer is a payment app for therapy-goers and mental healthcare professionals that makes out-of-network therapy more accessible.
Individuals can use Thrizer to pay what they owe for out-of-network therapy instead of paying their provider's full fee and waiting for insurance reimbursement.
Therapists can use Thrizer to be more accessible (while still earning their full rates) and modernize their payment stack.
Yes! Clients can connect as many payment methods as they would like to their Thrizer account. This can help in situations where clients manage their finances across multiple cards, or would like to use prepaid cards.
Once you enter your insurance information in Thrizer, the platform runs an automatic OON benefit check. Both you and your provider receive the email breakdown of the benefits, which include the deductible amount, co-insurance, and estimated reimbursement amount.
Alternatively, you can email our support team with your insurance card and we can check benefits for you as well!
There is no fee for using Thrizer if you are working towards your deductible.
If you have a deductible, all payments for sessions will be used to meet the deductible. You will pay your provider's full fee and the payments will be applied to the deductible automatically.
Once you meet your deductible, you will automatically only be charged what your owe (your co-pay) for appointments, while Thrizer covers the rest and waits for reimbursement for you. The above fees will apply.
Your co-pay is calculated from your provider's fee, your reimbursement rate, and Thrizer's fee. The co-pay you are charged is equal to Provider Fee - Reimbursement Rate + Thrizer Fee.
In other words, you are only charged what you owe for sessions (plus a Thrizer fee), rather than paying the provider's full fee and waiting for reimbursement from your insurance.
For example, if your provider's fee is $200 and your insurance covers $175, with Thrizer you will only be charged $35 per appointment. You owe $25 (the portion that insurance does not cover) and Thrizer's fee is $10 (5% of provider's fee for fronting the remaining $175).
The reimbursement rate is calculated from your co-insurance and your "allowed rate" for out-of-network mental health services.
Note that before the allowed rate is known, our quotes for co-pays are just estimates based on our data and experience with insurances and their allowed amounts for different services.
The allowed rate is the maximum amount that your insurance will accept and reimburse for a specific medical service. It is not necessarily the same as the amount as your provider's full fee.
Allowed rates vary by insurance company and insurance plan, and are generally decided on a per-case basis at the time of the first claim.
Yes! If you prefer to pay in full and wait for reimbursements, your can select that option from your Account Settings. All reimbursements come via direct deposit, and we provide end-to-end reimbursement support so you don't face any issues.
Reimbursement times vary widely by insurance company. Major payers, such as United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and certain BCBS plans often process claims and issue reimbursements within a week of the appointment. Other, smaller payers may take up to 4 weeks to process claims.
Note that with Thrizer, you are only responsible for a co-pay at the time of the appointment. Thrizer waits for reimbursement for you, unless you choose to wait for reimbursement yourself.
Insurance claims for your appointment are automatically generated and submitted to the your insurance upon a successful appointment charge! No further action is needed from your end or your provider's end.
You can view all previous claims, their status, and their result directly from your Thrizer account. Your provider can also view the status of any client claim from the Clients tab in their account, by clicking on any client and navigating to the Claims section.
Yes, insurances require a valid ICD-10 diagnosis code in order to accept claims and issue reimbursements.
Claim delays may happen for a variety of reasons, such as an insurance requesting license verification. Claim denials are rare, but may happen on occasion.
In either case, our team provides end-to-end support so that the reason behind the delay or denial is clear and the resolution is clearer. Our team works hard to resolve any pending issues immediately and expedite claims accordingly.
You can email those superbills to Thrizer Support and we'd be happy to submit those for your client, and manage them like any other claim, as a courtesy!
They absolutely can! Connecting HSA and FSA cards are the same process as connecting any other card to Thrizer.
