My mental health journey began at a very young age.
When I was 13 years old, my parents and teachers began to notice a change in my behavior and ability to focus and stay on task.
Nearly 30 years ago now, this process ended up with an ADHD diagnosis.
Prior to this, I had no idea what ADHD was, as this was around the time that the medical and therapist community was just beginning to understand this condition.
Thankfully for myself, my parents had access and the wherewithal to get me the treatment I needed and to allow me to learn how to manage my condition.
To this day, I still think about how my life would have turned out if I was not privileged in this way.
As a father of two, I put a lot of emphasis on the mental health of both my kids and I am fortunate to be able to now work in this space professionally.
My own journeys in mental health and being a father, above all else, are why I am beyond excited to be joining the team at Thrizer.
The disparity and access that exists in the mental health space is an enormous problem, and the world would be a better place if patients could see the therapist of their choice.
Oh yeah, and not have to deal with the headaches and stresses of managing the out-of-network billing process.
I am beyond honored to get to do my part at Thrizer to help make the vision of accessible and affordable therapy available to all who want it.
My three goals for the product that I want to accomplish in the next six months are:
Every member of the staff at Thrizer shares one conviction: no one should forgo therapy because of red tape. If our work helps even one person get timely care, we’re succeeding (yet our ambition is to help millions).
I’m honored to play a part in that mission. If you’re a clinician, client, or technologist who feels the same tug to make mental-health care universally accessible, I’d love to connect.
Let’s build a world where paying for therapy is the easiest step on the journey to wellness.
