Frankie Gonzalez is Practice Manager for Resilience Counseling and Wellness, a group practice with 11 clinicians on staff. That’s 11 clinicians who rely on Frankie to help their clients with out-of-network claims filing.

Early in her tenure, Frankie had a problem. Clients were struggling to navigate their out-of-network benefits, and when they did, the problem landed on her desk.

“People were trying to navigate deductibles, reimbursement rates, superbills, and insurance portals on their own, and it often created a lot of confusion and stress,” she said. “Even when we did everything on our end correctly, clients would still run into delays or denials that were completely outside our control.”

The result? Frustrated, anxious clients and a major administrative burden for Frankie and the practice. But the problem went beyond admin. It threatened clients’ ability to afford therapy.

“They either didn’t know how to submit claims, didn’t have the time or bandwidth to keep up with the process, or felt discouraged after one or two rejections,” Frankie said. 

Many clients paid full private pay rates without benefitting from their out-of-network benefits at all. Treatment was much less affordable than it could have been. “For some,” Frankie said, “that difference determines whether therapy feels sustainable.”

Existing clients were reducing session frequency or hitting pause on therapy. And new clients coming in the door sometimes wouldn’t start therapy at all because they couldn’t get the out-of-network support they needed.

Life Gets Easier with Thrizer


“I’m always looking for tools that actually make life easier for both clients and the practice,” Frankie said. 

Before trying Thrizer, Frankie sampled other options. But they didn’t make the grade.

“Some platforms were overly complicated for clients, some didn’t integrate well with our workflow, and others still required clients to do most of the heavy lifting with their insurance companies,” she said.

“We also experimented with more manual systems on our end,” she added, “but that created a lot of back‑and‑forth and still left clients feeling confused or discouraged.”

Nothing Frankie tried reduced the administrative burden for the practice’s clients—or for herself. 

“Clients were still getting stuck in insurance portals, dealing with delayed reimbursements, or giving up altogether,” she said. “And on my side, I was spending a significant amount of time troubleshooting issues that weren’t really ours to fix. It pulled energy away from the parts of my role that directly support clients and clinicians.”
